Senior Manager, SW Engineering (DevOps)

Location: US - Foster City, CA; at least 3 days per week in the office. The position requires 5–10% travel and is performed in an office setting.

Salary: $180,600–$289,300 USD per year, plus potential bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Lead and provide technical oversight to software engineering teams building Open hirify.globalNet, a distributed next-generation payment processing platform.
• Design and evolve scalable, fault-tolerant components using cloud-native and core DevSecOps principles.
• Build automated code deployment systems, CI/CD pipelines, workflows, and continuous observability capabilities.
• Drive developer productivity initiatives through automation, continuous integration, release engineering, and GenAI adoption.
• Champion application, infrastructure, and enterprise security, including secure coding, certificate management, and component security analysis.
• Coach, mentor, motivate, and manage direct reports while supporting hiring and cross-functional delivery.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience with an advanced degree or PhD.
• At least 3 years of direct management experience leading software engineers, including hiring, coaching, and performance development.
• 8+ years of technical leadership experience with cloud-native platforms, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, reliability engineering, or security-focused engineering.
• Hands-on experience managing enterprise production systems in public or private cloud environments with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong expertise in DevOps practices, CI/CD solutions, infrastructure automation, distributed systems, and software delivery lifecycles.
• Deep expertise in at least one programming language, preferably Java or Go, plus proficiency in scripting such as Bash, Python, or Jenkins/Groovy.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed databases, distributed computing, and high-frequency transactions.
• Experience with Splunk, Sysdig, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Knowledge of operating system internals, file systems, storage, and networking protocols.
• Previous experience in financial services or payment processing.
