AI Engineering Manager (Agentic Systems & Platforms)

Location: Hybrid role based in Bellevue, Washington; South San Francisco, California; or San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $215,000–$227,500 annually

What you will do

• Lead architecture and system design for large-scale distributed, multi-tier systems spanning frontend, APIs, services, data, and AI layers.
• Define engineering standards, design patterns, service boundaries, API approaches, data models, and platform architecture decisions.
• Architect and build production-grade GenAI systems using LLMs, prompt pipelines, model APIs, and agentic or workflow-based approaches.
• Guide engineers through design reviews, code reviews, technical debt resolution, and scalable implementation practices.
• Own planning, prioritization, risk identification, and execution across parallel high-impact workstreams.
• Partner with Product, AI/ML, Data Engineering, DevOps, and Consulting teams to deliver scalable technical solutions.

Requirements

• Deep software engineering experience with strong foundations in computer science, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Engineering management or technical leadership experience with the ability to remain hands-on and technically credible.
• Experience building and scaling distributed, multi-tier applications across backend, services, data, and AI layers.
• Strong backend engineering skills, preferably with Python, and familiarity with FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, API design, service-oriented architecture, data modeling, and storage systems.
• English fluency and authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship are required.

• Experience supporting complex platform or AI solution discussions with internal stakeholders or clients.
