Software Development Manager, Platform Engineering

Location: New Jersey, USA — Remote

Salary: $148,000–$264,990 annually for U.S.-based roles; offers may exceed this range.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and support a Platform and DevOps engineering team.
• Own roadmap execution, release planning, risk management, and operational excellence for business-critical applications.
• Operate and evolve Kubernetes/EKS environments across multi-availability-zone and multi-region architectures.
• Drive GitOps, CI/CD, reusable developer workflows, paved roads, and infrastructure automation.
• Improve SLOs, SLIs, incident response, postmortems, observability, reliability, security, and cloud cost efficiency.
• Partner with Product, Design, Security, Compliance, and Engineering stakeholders to align priorities and deliver solutions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience managing and developing engineers.
• 7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, or related areas.
• Experience delivering and operating business-critical applications in AWS environments.
• Strong experience with AWS services including EKS, EC2, VPC networking, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudWatch.
• Experience with Kubernetes operations, Helm, autoscaling, infrastructure security, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or AWS CDK.
• Programming experience in Python, Java, TypeScript, or Node.js, plus familiarity with SRE practices and strong stakeholder communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Internal Developer Platforms and self-service engineering workflows.
• Familiarity with service meshes, policy engines, secrets management, platform governance, and multi-region resilience engineering.
• Knowledge of distributed tracing, synthetic monitoring, event-driven architectures, Kafka, Kinesis, SNS, or SQS.
• Familiarity with SOX, SOC2, compliance frameworks, and FinOps practices.
