Senior Physical Substation Engineer (Renewables)

Location: United States; remote or Lakewood, Colorado, with local/in-office and hybrid work options. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Occasional field work and 10–15% travel are required.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead project-based phase management, including scope, budgets, task delegation, client interaction, execution, and technical quality.
• Review physical engineering designs for electric power substations and BESS facilities, including multidisciplinary coordination.
• Develop and review general arrangements, elevation views, site layouts, bills of materials, equipment specifications, bus sizing, grounding plans, and conduit plans.
• Perform QA/QC reviews, check work for accuracy, and review submittals for compliance with client specifications and applicable codes.
• Prepare calculations, models, cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, technical guidelines, and training documents.
• Train, coach, and mentor junior engineers, designers, and other team members; perform occasional field inspections and construction supervision.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience.
• FE or PE licensure is preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MathCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective written and oral communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to understand and apply applicable codes and standards, follow safety rules, and complete required safety training.

• FE or PE licensure.
• Experience with physical design of electrical substations and BESS facilities.
