Power Generation Senior Electrical Project Engineer (Power Generation)

Location: Hybrid role based in Auburn, California, United States

Salary: $161,520–$207,504 per year

Operates and maintains hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation, and battery storage facilities serving California customers.

What you will do

• Lead engineering, design, project management, and program management for complex power generation and infrastructure projects.
• Perform and oversee risk management, engineering analyses, and static and dynamic modeling of structural, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Develop standards, specifications, regulatory strategies, facility safety plans, and company-wide engineering best practices.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, regulatory agencies, governmental organizations, and internal operations and maintenance stakeholders.
• Support start-up testing, inspections, condition assessments, technical documentation, and presentations to management, agencies, and the public.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, quality oversight, and knowledge transfer to engineers and project teams.

Requirements

• Current and active California Professional Engineer license required.
• Four-year BS degree in Engineering from an accredited US curriculum or equivalent international qualification required.
• At least eight years of cumulative experience in engineering, design, and construction, including at least five years in power generation or heavy industry.
• Extensive knowledge of power generation, engineering analysis, project management, contract management, and applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, independent judgment, and the ability to resolve complex technical and contractual issues.
• Ability to lead multiple large and complex projects, mentor less experienced personnel, and work with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice to have

• MS degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or an MBA.
• PMI certification.
• Experience with rotating machines, dams, water conveyance, water rights, and generation facility operations.
• Experience developing system-wide improvements and negotiating complex contracts.
