Software Developer II (Python API & Enterprise Integration)

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and deploy RESTful APIs for integrations between core data platforms and enterprise IT systems.
• Build scalable, maintainable, production-ready software components in Python.
• Define API requirements, data exchange contracts, and workflow integration patterns with digital science, engineering, and IT stakeholders.
• Create and maintain technical specifications, functional designs, API documentation, user guides, test plans, and release procedures.
• Manage codebases with Git and maintain project artifacts, task trackers, and team knowledge repositories using JIRA and Confluence.
• Participate in sprint planning, technical reviews, knowledge-transfer sessions, and project handoffs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
• 3–5 years of relevant professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python development skills and experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL queries.
• Experience integrating applications with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS or Databricks.
• Experience producing SDLC-compliant documentation, test plans, and production software specifications; strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, JIRA, and Confluence skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with scientific, research, or data-intensive enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with enterprise application integration patterns and data processing pipelines.
• Experience in regulated industries such as life sciences, biotech, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare.
