TL;DR
Electrical Engineer IV - Mining Truck Drive Systems (Electric Drives and Energy Storage): Designing and developing mining truck power systems with an accent on electric drive technologies, energy storage, motor-drive control, and system simulation. Focus on building complex simulation tools, analyzing thermal and dynamic performance, defining technical requirements, and selecting major system components.
Location: Onsite in Peoria, Illinois, USA; international travel required for up to 5–10% of working time.
Salary: $100,000–$135,000 per year.

What you will do
- Provide technical leadership for the research, design, and development of mining truck power systems.
- Design complex electric drive systems integrating hardware and software.
- Develop simulation tools to evaluate drive-system architecture, performance, thermal and dynamic response, motor control, and battery DC-DC converters.
- Support material specifications and circuit simulations for major system components.
- Analyze competitive equipment features, operating costs, and total cost of ownership to inform product development.
- Provide expert technical recommendations across business units and support development projects through completion.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Typically 5–8 years of relevant experience with demonstrated expertise in electric drive-system design or simulation.
- In-depth knowledge of drive-system theory, function, and operation.
- Proficiency in Simulink, MATLAB, PSIM, and PSCAD.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with engineering teams, departments, vendors, subordinates, and senior management.
- Experience leading development projects and taking ownership with minimal supervision.
