TL;DR
Senior Software Engineer - Virtualization and SIL Integration (Automotive): Building virtual test environments, Level 3 virtual ECUs, and software-in-the-loop co-simulation packages for conventional and hybrid propulsion systems with an accent on embedded software integration, simulation fidelity, and agile technical leadership. Focus on designing co-simulation architectures, integrating virtual ECUs with plant, sensor, actuator, and vehicle interfaces, and solving complex platform testing and release-readiness issues.
Location: Milford, Michigan, United States; onsite role. The job is not eligible for relocation benefits, and relocation costs are the candidate’s responsibility.

What you will do
- Lead agile execution for the CPOWERSIM scrum, including planning, backlog management, dependency tracking, risk escalation, and delivery follow-through.
- Lead development and integration of software-in-the-loop co-simulation components for automotive propulsion torque-control applications.
- Guide Level 3 virtual ECU creation, maintenance, hardware I/O, RTOS, communications quality gates, and release dashboards.
- Define co-simulation package scope and requirements covering virtual ECUs, plant physics models, sensors, actuators, and vehicle interfaces.
- Debug systemic virtualization and integration issues, support user testing, and ensure high-quality local and cloud-based SIL releases.
- Mentor engineers, review technical work products, and collaborate with architects, software, calibration, and system stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics and communications, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of embedded software development experience in automotive or related industries.
- 3+ years of virtualization or hardware-/software-in-the-loop co-simulation integration experience.
- 2+ years coordinating agile development for a technical scrum, feature team, or integration team.
- 2+ years using DevOps and CI/CD practices and tools for version control, build automation, release management, and dashboard reporting.
- Proficiency in Embedded C, GCC/GDB, Eclipse or VS Code, Python automation, AUTOSAR, CAN, LIN, SPI, automotive Ethernet, software-defined vehicle architecture, and Modelica FMI/SSP standards.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a related engineering or computer science discipline.
- Experience modeling electric or hybrid propulsion systems, especially torque controls.
- Experience with JIRA, JIRA Align, Confluence, MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape, GT-POWER, Amesim, or CarSim.
- Experience delivering SIL co-simulation environments, virtual ECU integration, serial and rest-bus modeling, and sensor/actuator models.
