Senior CDM Consultant/Principal Designer (Construction)

TL;DR

Senior CDM Consultant/Principal Designer (Construction): Delivering CDM advisory and Principal Designer services for energy and industrial projects across the UK and Republic of Ireland with an accent on construction health and safety, regulatory compliance, and design coordination. Focus on interpreting CDM 2015 responsibilities, coordinating pre-construction information, and managing complex safety requirements across design, construction, and commissioning phases.

Location: Hybrid role based in the London or Glasgow city-centre office, with three office days and two home-working days per week, plus site travel around the UK approximately three times per month. Relocation is not available. Visa sponsorship is not available, although candidates with significant and current relevant UK experience may be considered for a transfer of sponsorship on a UK Skilled Worker Visa.

What you will do

• Fulfil Principal Designer and Designer duties in accordance with the CDM 2015 Regulations.
• Provide CDM Advisor support to clients and undertake the PSDP role for projects in Ireland when required.
• Plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate health and safety during the pre-construction phase.
• Coordinate information exchange between clients, Principal Designers, designers, and contractors.
• Help clients compile pre-construction information and provide the documentation required by designers and contractors.
• Support safe and compliant delivery through design, construction, and commissioning.

Requirements

• Several years of construction-industry experience focused on CDM and construction health and safety.
• Excellent knowledge of CDM 2015 and relevant safety legislation in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
• Demonstrable experience delivering Principal Designer and CDM Advisor roles on large-scale energy or industrial projects.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, plus the NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• Incorporated membership of the Association for Project Safety and a full, clean driving licence.
• Ability to work from the London or Glasgow office and travel to UK project sites; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) qualifications.
• Energy-sector experience and Chartered IOSH membership or progress toward it.
• Knowledge of engineering deliverables, constructability, procurement, contract administration, project controls, and estimating.
