Principal Electrical Engineer (Data Centers)

Location: London, England; national and international travel of approximately 10–15% is required and may increase over time.

What you will do

• Lead electrical feasibility, test-fit, concept, and detailed design activities for mission-critical data center projects.
• Act as the client-side electrical technical authority, setting design direction and reviewing consultant documentation, submittals, RFIs, studies, and commissioning materials.
• Manage external electrical engineering partners and coordinate with customers, contractors, operations, product, construction, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Develop standardized, modular, prefabricated, and scalable electrical solutions covering MV, LV, UPS, generators, and related critical power systems.
• Support equipment standardization, vendor collaboration, procurement, construction, site investigations, commissioning, troubleshooting, and retrofit activities.
• Lead value engineering, technical workshops, project milestones, design approvals, risk reporting, and development of junior electrical engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 10 years of experience in electrical power design and construction; 15+ years is preferred.
• At least 5 years of mission-critical experience in data centers, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or comparable environments is preferred.
• Experience with EU construction markets and regulations is required.
• Knowledge of critical power infrastructure, HV/MV substations, utility interfaces, building and fire codes, and IEC standards.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud, plus familiarity with BIM, Revit, and Navisworks.

Nice to have

• Chartered Engineer credentials in the EU or Professional Engineer credentials in North America.
• 15+ years of electrical power design and construction experience.
