TL;DR
Product Manager II - Hardware (Spacecraft) (Power, GNC, and Propulsion): Owning spacecraft subsystem roadmaps and translating customer mission needs into product requirements with an accent on technically complex hardware platforms, product quality, and cross-functional execution. Focus on defining subsystem features, making roadmap and make-or-buy decisions, and coordinating engineering, production, supply chain, and defense-aligned product inputs.
Location: San Jose, CA; hybrid schedule with on-site work required four days per week
Salary: $177,000–$203,000 per year, plus equity and benefits
Company
designs, builds, and operates LEO satellite constellations and provides integrated space systems for climate monitoring, national security, and other mission-critical applications.
What you will do
- Own the roadmap for spacecraft power, propulsion, and guidance, navigation, and control subsystems.
- Define and prioritize features that improve product quality, schedule adherence, and customer value.
- Write product requirements documents, acceptance criteria, and detailed subsystem requirements.
- Develop product strategy and make-or-buy decisions with the Director of Product Management.
- Conduct customer interviews and translate mission needs and product-market-fit feedback into roadmap decisions.
- Coordinate with hardware, mission systems, mission architecture, production, AIT, supply chain, federal product, and broader product teams.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of product management experience owning hardware products in technically complex environments.
- Experience with solar power systems, spacecraft propulsion, industrial robotics, or adjacent deep-tech hardware domains.
- Experience delivering major features or programs spanning multiple months and managing concurrent workstreams independently.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering peers and leadership and influence technical investment without direct authority.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Must meet applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements for access to ITAR/EAR-controlled information.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with solar power systems or Hall-effect thrusters.
- Knowledge of guidance, navigation, and control algorithms, simulations, and sensors.
- Experience building or operating hardware for the space environment.
- Experience in a startup or high-growth technology environment.
- Advanced degree in a related technical field.
