TL;DR

FP&A Analyst (Healthcare): Analyzing healthcare financial data and building forecasts for revenue cycle, payer performance, and patient services with an accent on budgeting, variance analysis, and profitability modeling. Focus on interpreting reimbursement trends, benchmarking operational KPIs, and designing actionable financial insights for clinical and operational decision-making.

Location: Onsite in Mesa, Arizona, USA; Mesa, AZ 85202 is required.

What you will do

  • Analyze revenue, expenses, accounts receivable aging, compensation, margins, and healthcare operational performance.
  • Monitor revenue cycle KPIs including Days in AR, denial rates, collections, DNFB, and cost per encounter.
  • Build and maintain financial models for revenue, cost, profitability, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports, variance analyses, and performance benchmarks.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and revenue cycle teams to assess financial impacts of process and strategic changes.
  • Evaluate payer contracts and reimbursement trends while supporting audits, regulatory reporting, and internal controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in financial analysis and 2–5 years of experience with budgeting, forecasting, and compensation models.
  • At least 2 years of forecasting experience and availability to work onsite in Mesa, Arizona are required.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP, plus proficiency in financial modeling and data visualization.
  • Knowledge of healthcare analytics, costing, benchmarking, revenue cycle operations, and financial reporting systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, multitasking, and deadline-management skills.

Nice to have

  • Healthcare financial analysis experience in a hospital, clinic, or health system.
  • Experience with healthcare payer reimbursement models, Medicare, Medicaid, value-based care, and payer contracts.
  • Master’s degree, CPA, CHFP, or CMA designation.
  • Athenahealth and QuickBooks Online experience.
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, EHR, or ERP systems such as Athena, Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Oracle, or Workday.
