TL;DR

Radiation Design and Test Engineer (Radiation Engineering): Assessing and mitigating radiation effects across inertial navigation systems, sensors, MEMS devices, ASICs, fiber optics, and other electronic components with an accent on radiation analysis, hardening, and verification. Focus on designing and executing dose-rate, total ionizing dose, neutron displacement damage, and single-event-effects testing while supporting reliable system performance across the product lifecycle.

Location: Onsite in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Selected applicants must obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Salary: $75,000–$156,000 USD base salary per year.

What you will do

  • Assess radiation environments and their effects on systems, components, and sensors.
  • Design, harden, and verify systems against dose-rate effects, total ionizing dose, neutron displacement damage, and single-event effects.
  • Support engineering decisions and collaborate with multidisciplinary program teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Define technical approaches, execute analysis and testing assignments, and identify design risks.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations and contribute to updated engineering practices and quality processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of radiation engineering or related experience.
  • Solid understanding of radiation interactions with materials and devices.
  • Strong analytical, modeling, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field.
  • Experience with inertial sensors, accelerometers, gyroscopes, MEMS, ASICs, or fiber-optic components.
