TL;DR

Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer (Automotive): Leading the integration of General Assembly manufacturing systems for new vehicle programs with an accent on alignment between product design, facility strategy, and automation. Focus on solving complex manufacturing challenges, maintaining the Plan for Every Site (PFES), and optimizing total cost and launch timing.

Location: Hybrid (Warren, Michigan). Must be based in or be able to relocate to the US. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

What you will do

  • Lead the development, integration, and execution of General Assembly manufacturing systems from pre-DSI through CSO.
  • Develop program-specific manufacturing strategies that align product, process, timing, and investment objectives.
  • Maintain the Plan for Every Site (PFES) and evaluate Manufacturing Planning Studies (MPS) with data-driven recommendations.
  • Optimize manufacturing solutions by balancing investment, piece cost, labor, floor space, quality, and safety.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including engineering, automation, paint, and launch teams to ensure aligned decisions.
  • Lead root cause investigations for complex integration issues and drive continuous improvement in efficiency and cost reduction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in General Assembly manufacturing including process development, equipment design, and vehicle launch.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading complex vehicle program integration efforts within a plant environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, automation, tooling, and assembly processes.
  • Working knowledge of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP).
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US without current or future immigration sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • 8+ years of General Assembly manufacturing experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business.
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies, automation strategies, and vision systems.
  • Proven success influencing cross-functional teams in complex manufacturing environments.
