Controls Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Battle Creek, Michigan, United States; onsite at the Battle Creek Seating Component facility

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve automation control systems used in automotive seating production and assembly.
• Support maintenance teams by troubleshooting PLC ladder logic, ControlLogix processors, I/O devices, HMIs, scanners, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, and related equipment.
• Maintain PLC documentation, machine-control drawings, program archives, backups, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Diagnose and repair integrated electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to improve equipment uptime and plant reliability.
• Implement plant-floor data collection and error-proofing solutions, and plan process impacts resulting from engineering and launch changes.
• Participate in multidisciplinary continuous-improvement and 8D root-cause problem-solving activities, including equipment specification and controls-drawing reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Previous Controls Engineer experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5000, ControlLogix, and PanelView development software.
• Ability to diagnose electrical, electronic, instrumentation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment issues.
• Must meet the requirements to work in the United States, including INS Form I-9 requirements.
• Ability to comply with BOS, ISO/TS 16949, customer-specific, and health, safety, and environmental requirements.

• JIT or automotive industry experience.
