What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and procurement of packaging solutions for automotive and aerospace & defense programs.
• Implement preservation methods and packaging designs to protect critical hardware during processing, transport, and storage.
• Generate and maintain controlled documentation, including drawings, specifications, work instructions, and labeling requirements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Logistics) to align packaging with technical baselines.
• Manage packaging qualification testing (environmental, drop, vibration, compression) and interface with third-party labs.
• Optimize inbound packaging and design lineside conveyance solutions to improve utilization and reduce costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in packaging engineering within the automotive or aerospace industries.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Catia) for 3D modeling and structural analysis tools.
• In-depth knowledge of packaging materials and testing standards (ISTA, ASTM, ISO).
• Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP), TMS tools, and advanced Excel/Google Sheets.
• Must be able to lawfully access information subject to US export controls.

Nice to have

• Experience in early-stage or scale-up manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with additive manufacturing logistics or just-in-sequence automotive production.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and Poka-Yoke principles.
• Experience with POP or certified packaging and military specifications.
