What you will do

• Architect and implement large-scale systems and services that handle massive data volumes and complex workloads in real-time.
• Take ownership of backend systems behind core data objects to improve performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Lead by example and mentor engineers on software design, coding, and operations best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to align core data systems with business objectives.
• Integrate agentic AI tools into the product delivery workflow to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Refine operational procedures and troubleshooting playbooks to maximize system stability.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, specifically with high-scale, high-throughput systems.
• Proven track record of building foundational data-driven systems such as streaming, real-time pipelines, or large-scale platforms.
• Strong technical leadership skills in driving architectural direction and managing technical debt.
• Deep expertise in software design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Location: Must be based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, React, Go, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency with MongoDB, Snowflake, or other data lake solutions.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
