What you will do

• Translate broad project requirements into detailed mechanical design specifications for new robotic systems and components.
• Design and refine mechanisms, interfaces, lightweight structures, crash protection, compliant mechanisms, and ergonomic robot coverings.
• Create and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and test plans using SolidWorks.
• Perform FEA and other analyses, conduct bench testing, and validate performance, safety, and manufacturability.
• Troubleshoot design issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive solutions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers and external vendors to develop prototypes and outsourced components.

Requirements

• BSME with 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Experience designing high-performance mechanical structures, motion mechanisms, and integrated systems, preferably in robotics or another high-precision field.
• Advanced proficiency with CAD software, especially SolidWorks, plus experience with FEA and topology optimization.
• Strong knowledge of ASME drafting standards and GD&T according to Y14.5-2018.
• Experience taking designs from early concepts through NPI, EVT, DVT, and production.
• Familiarity with casting, sheet metal, stamping, hydroforming, composites, and energy-absorbing structures.
