TL;DR

Engineering Field Service Technician (Robotics): Supporting the deployment, maintenance, and sustainment of uncrewed surface vessel fleets with an accent on hands-on troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and communications domains. Focus on ensuring vehicle readiness during testing and customer deployments, requiring extensive travel and technical expertise in maritime environments.

Location: Must be based in or able to work from San Diego, CA or North Kingstown, RI. This is an onsite/hybrid role requiring 50–75% travel.

Compensation: $100,000 – $125,000 + Equity + Bonus

What you will do

  • Perform mechanical and electrical system maintenance, component replacement, and corrective actions.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and system-level issues in the field.
  • Support sea trials, system tests, and operational evaluations to validate vehicle performance.
  • Install new subsystems, hardware modifications, and software updates on deployed vehicles.
  • Document test results, failures, and maintenance actions to improve system reliability.
  • Represent the company professionally while working directly with customers and partners.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in field service, maintenance, or technical support for complex electromechanical systems.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Hands-on proficiency with diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and serial analyzers.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and PCB schematics.
  • Comfortable working in maritime environments and traveling 50–75% of the time.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

  • Experience with maritime, aerospace, or defense robotics.
  • Knowledge of propulsion systems and electrical power distribution.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (SolidWorks) and configuration management.
  • Prior experience supporting DoD customers.
