Mechanical Engineer (Hardware)

TL;DR

Mechanical Engineer (Hardware): Developing and integrating mechanical systems and payloads for uncrewed surface vessels with an accent on CAD design, structural components, and electrical integration. Focus on bringing complex mechanical systems from concept to production for rugged marine environments.

Location: Must be able to work from the North Kingstown, RI office onsite 3+ days per week

Salary: $120K – $150K + Equity

What you will do

• Lead the mechanical design and integration of new systems and payloads, including structural components and enclosures.
• Create detailed CAD models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks for marine operating environments.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to support wiring harness routing, connector mounting, and environmental protection.
• Participate in hardware builds, bench testing, and vehicle integration to validate mechanical designs.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including bills of materials (BOM) and interface control documentation (ICDs).
• Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are cost-effective, serviceable, and manufacturable.

Requirements

• 4-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering design and system integration.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for mechanical CAD modeling and drafting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret Security Clearance.
• Must be able to work from the North Kingstown, RI office onsite 3+ days per week.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, assembly, and troubleshooting electromechanical systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with payload integration for uncrewed maritime or aerospace platforms.
• Knowledge of thermal management, sealing, vibration, and shock considerations for embedded hardware.
• Experience with additive manufacturing and design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Strong root cause analysis and field-support mindset.
