What you will do
- Design electrical systems for robots, including sensor, compute, power, and control subsystems.
- Review designs, perform circuit and failure analysis, troubleshoot complex electrical issues, and improve system reliability.
- Create schematics and PCB layouts in Altium for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Develop and test firmware in C and HDL for microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs.
- Use Linux command-line tools and laboratory equipment to configure, integrate, and validate robotic systems.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, and other disciplines to integrate electrical hardware into the robotics platform.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium for schematic capture and layout.
- Knowledge of embedded programming in C and HDL for microcontrollers, DSPs, or FPGAs.
- Experience with power regulation and distribution, short-circuit protection, switching power supplies, and power management.
- Understanding of circuit simulation, analysis, debugging, and laboratory validation using oscilloscopes, power supplies, programmable loads, and spectrum analyzers.
- Experience with high-speed data technologies such as PCIe, Ethernet, or EtherCAT in PCB-based systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with Python, C++, LabVIEW, or MATLAB for automation and testing.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar mechanical CAD tools.
- Familiarity with Verilog or VHDL for hardware design and simulation.
- Experience building Linux kernels or modifying and writing device drivers.
