What you will do

• Repair, install, maintain, and adjust mechanical components and generation plant machinery.
• Perform drilling, tapping, lathe, milling, grinding, heating, cutting, machining, and quality control work.
• Maintain boilers, auxiliary equipment, shop machines, tools, and facility maintenance equipment.
• Perform metal fabrication and welding on carbon steel, T11, T22, and other metals.
• Operate plant rigging and lifting equipment and follow safe procedures when handling heavy machinery and materials.
• Coordinate with outside contractors during mechanical installations, overhauls, and outage work while documenting maintenance activities.

Requirements

• High school or vocational school diploma, or equivalent, with a mechanical, metalworking, or welding focus.
• Four years of experience as a mechanic, machinist, or welder, preferably in a generation plant environment.
• Knowledge of power plant machinery, boilers, repair materials, tools, maintenance techniques, hazards, and safety precautions.
• Working knowledge of shielded metal arc welding and gas-tungsten arc welding.
• Ability to diagnose and correct defects in complex mechanical equipment and work from blueprints, drawings, procedures, charts, and sketches.
• Ability to pass respirator fit tests and use respiratory protective equipment or a self-contained breathing apparatus.
