Location: Fully remote, strictly within Europe and EU/UK time zones; applications from outside Europe will not be reviewed.

Salary: USD $80,000–$100,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own the distributed backend data engine from architecture through deployment, scaling, and ongoing optimization.
• Build and improve high-volume ingestion, normalization, and reconciliation pipelines for blockchain and exchange data.
• Design reliable distributed processing with queues, workers, idempotency, backpressure, rate limiting, and retries.
• Optimize data models, SQL queries, and large-scale PostgreSQL workloads for high throughput and deterministic execution.
• Decode on-chain activity, including ABIs, event logs, traces, token standards, transaction semantics, and DeFi operations.
• Partner with product and engineering leads, provide architectural direction, and raise backend engineering standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on complex, data-heavy distributed systems.
• Expert-level TypeScript experience with modern tooling and production backend systems.
• Deep understanding of distributed system architecture and high-throughput asynchronous processing.
• Production-level DeFi experience with AMMs, lending, staking, LP positions, bridges, and on-chain data.
• Advanced data modeling and SQL skills, including performance tuning on large PostgreSQL datasets.
• Professional Rust experience and fluency with AI development tools such as Claude, Codex, or Cursor.

Nice to have

• Deeper Rust experience in performance-critical data processing.
• Experience with financial products, double-entry accounting, or tax domains.
• Familiarity with Ruby and the ability to share a public GitHub portfolio.
• Knowledge of the hirify.global product.
