Staff Software Developer (Ruby on Rails/AI)

Location: Hybrid, with in-office collaboration expected 10+ days per month; distributed collaboration across Ireland, the U.S., the Philippines, and Australia.

What you will do

• Drive architectural decisions for the cash forecasting platform, balancing scalability, maintainability, reliability, and rapid deployment.
• Build API integrations with SAP, Oracle, Workday, banking systems, and other financial data sources.
• Develop machine learning models, automated variance analysis, anomaly detection, and forecasting capabilities for the GSmart AI engine.
• Design multi-tenant worksheet engines, real-time dashboards, caching, aggregation, and notification systems for financial insights.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing infrastructure, observability, incident response, and deployment processes.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, influence the product roadmap, and own critical systems through production support.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years with complex business-critical production systems.
• Deep expertise in Ruby on Rails and RDBMS, ideally PostgreSQL, including query optimization, indexing, and data modeling.
• Strong experience building large-scale multi-tenant applications and RESTful APIs, with knowledge of GraphQL, gRPC, and webhooks.
• Deep knowledge of React, TypeScript, JavaScript, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, message queues, RBAC, audit logging, and API versioning.
• Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Docker; Kubernetes; infrastructure as code; CI/CD; observability; and microservices deployment patterns.
• Experience owning production systems, handling incidents, leading technical designs, mentoring engineers, and making long-term architectural decisions.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of cash positioning, forecasting, liquidity management, banking systems, payment rails, and financial data formats such as MT940, BAI2, and SWIFT.
• Experience with multi-currency handling, exchange rates, financial compliance, SOC 2, data privacy, and third-party financial integrations.
