What you will do

• Provide technical leadership in characterizing magnetic materials and correlating data with HDD performance.
• Own and support magnetic measurement systems used in product development and manufacturing.
• Analyze magnetic performance data to provide actionable insights to engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Establish global standards, best practices, and documentation for measurement techniques.
• Define measurement uncertainty, calibration methodologies, and error budgets.
• Investigate measurement-related issues and implement corrective actions through root cause analysis.

Requirements

• Degree in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Magnetics, or Data Science.
• Must be eligible to live and work in the UK without sponsorship.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in technical data analysis.
• Ability to communicate complex technical findings to multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborative approach to working across multiple engineering organizations.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of magnetism, magnetic recording technologies, or spintronic devices.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, JMP, MATLAB, or R.
• Background in semiconductor, data storage, or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE), SPC, and MSA methodologies.
• Postgraduate qualifications (MSc/PhD) or industrial research experience.
