What you will do

• Define functional, performance, and stress tests for actuators, sensors, and electronics, establishing clear pass/fail criteria.
• Design integration tests for major robot subsystems (arms, legs, torso) covering kinematics, load behavior, and thermal response.
• Execute system-level tests for full robot assemblies, focusing on balance, manipulation tasks, and failure-mode behavior.
• Lead prototype bring-up by characterizing new hardware revisions and performing root-cause failure analysis.
• Translate manual test methods into technical specifications for the automation team and define requirements for production rigs.
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain Quality to establish in-process verification and final-product acceptance gates.

Requirements

• 5+ years in hardware test engineering with hands-on experience in complex electromechanical systems (robotics, automotive, or aerospace).
• Strong expertise in test theory, test design, and the creation of executable test specifications.
• Solid understanding of mechanical design, GD&T basics, and use of precision measurement tools.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and utilize multimeters and oscilloscopes for signal integrity analysis.
• Familiarity with hardware production operations, including flow, takt, and traveler documentation.
• Experience using task tracking systems such as Jira, X-Ray, or TestRail.

Nice to have

• Experience with serial-link manipulators, legged systems, or ROS2.
• Python proficiency for data analysis and lightweight test automation.
• CAD experience (SolidWorks, Fusion, or NX) for sketching test fixtures.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, field buses (CAN, EtherCAT), and industrial automation (PLCs).
• Understanding of statistical quality control fundamentals (SPC, MSA).
