Senior Principal AE-RF Design Engineer (mmWave/RF): Designing high-frequency 30 GHz+ transceivers and RF components for 5G/6G communications, aerospace radar, and automotive sensors with an accent on custom RF blocks, PLLs, phased-array architectures, and advanced RF SOI processes. Focus on taking designs from conception through tape-out and lab validation, solving parasitic extraction, thermal management, electromagnetic modeling, and high-frequency characterization challenges.

What you will do

  • Design high-frequency 30 GHz+ millimeter-wave transceivers and RF components for 5G/6G communications, aerospace radar, and automotive sensors.
  • Develop custom RF building blocks including power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, mixers, and voltage-controlled oscillators.
  • Design Tx/Rx signal chains and RF PLLs, including Sigma-Delta and fractional-N architectures.
  • Develop and analyze direct-conversion transceivers and phased-array systems using metrics such as ACPR, EVM, and BER.
  • Drive designs through the full lifecycle from conception and tape-out to final laboratory validation.
  • Engage closely with customers while addressing parasitic extraction, thermal management, and high-frequency electromagnetic modeling.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of industrial experience taking RF designs through tape-out and final lab validation.
  • Deep expertise in mmWave IC design, RF subsystems, Tx/Rx signal chains, and RF PLL building blocks.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced RF SOI process technologies and their design trade-offs.
  • Mastery of EDA tools including VSS, hirify.global Virtuoso, VRF flows, EMX, Clarity, Layout MXL, QRC, and Pegasus.
  • Extensive laboratory characterization experience with spectrum analyzers, VNAs, and probe stations.
  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline is typically expected.
