Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States. Travel to customer sites as needed, up to 70%.

Base pay: $171,000–$231,500 per year, with potential bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build working proof-of-value solutions using prospects' data and systems, including real integrations and production-like outputs.
• Lead technical discovery, architecture, security and compliance reviews, integration assessments, and technical RFP responses with finance and IT stakeholders.
• Architect and deploy customer-specific AI Agent configurations that automate complex accounting processes and improve internal controls.
• Review and edit Python, write SQL, troubleshoot integrations and data flows, and optimize API-driven workflows and validations.
• Lead implementations, training, workflow redesign, adoption workshops, renewals, and expansion engagements with CFOs, Controllers, and accounting leaders.
• Feed customer insights to Product Management and Core Engineering while creating implementation guides, expansion frameworks, and reusable deployment assets.

Requirements

• 5+ years in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, technical consulting, or a comparable hands-on customer-embedded engineering role.
• Deep experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, webhooks, SQL, and enterprise integrations.
• Hands-on experience using, configuring, or building agentic AI workflows and tools.
• Experience managing multiple technical deployments under delivery pressure and troubleshooting issues with customers and internal IT teams.
• Ability to translate ambiguity into executable requirements and communicate effectively with engineers, Product Managers, executives, CFOs, and Controllers.
• Ability to travel to customer sites as needed, up to 70%, for technical evaluations, deployments, training, and adoption workshops.

Nice to have

• Background in high-growth SaaS, applied AI, fintech, ERP, or accounting-related domains.
• Experience in construction, nonprofit, manufacturing, wealth management, health care, franchise, or field services finance operations.
• Prior multi-month customer-site deployment, implementation consulting, forward-deployed, or field engineering experience.
• Experience as a veteran, management consultant, competitive programmer, or PhD.
