Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; travel to customer sites as needed, up to 70%.

Base pay: $171,000–$231,500 annually, with potential cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build working proof-of-value solutions using prospects’ data and systems, including integrations and production-like outputs.
• Partner with Sales and Account Management on discovery, technical evaluations, architecture, security and compliance reviews, RFPs, and ROI cases.
• Architect and deploy customer-specific AI Agents that automate complex accounting processes and improve financial operations.
• Troubleshoot customer systems by reviewing Python, writing SQL, and diagnosing integrations, data flows, validations, and API-driven workflows.
• Lead technical implementations, training, workflow redesign, adoption, renewals, and expansion engagements with CFOs, Controllers, and accounting leaders.
• Share customer feedback with Product and Core Engineering and create reusable implementation guides and deployment assets.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, technical consulting, or a comparable customer-embedded engineering role.
• Deep experience with agentic AI, including LangChain, LangGraph, MCP servers, multi-agent systems, RAG, vector stores, and hybrid retrieval.
• Experience with LLMs and tooling such as OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, GitHub Copilot, Gemini Code Assist, and prompt engineering.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, webhooks, SQL, and enterprise integrations, plus the ability to troubleshoot technical issues with customers and IT teams.
• Ability to manage multiple deployments, translate ambiguous requirements into executable plans, and communicate with engineers, product managers, executives, and finance leaders.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites up to 70% for evaluations, deployments, training, and adoption workshops.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-growth SaaS, applied AI, fintech, ERP, or accounting-related domains.
• Depth in construction, nonprofit, manufacturing, wealth management, health care, franchise, or field services finance operations.
• Previous customer-site experience with multi-month implementations, field engineering, or forward-deployed engagements.
• Background as a veteran, management consultant, competitive programmer, or PhD.
