Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States or onsite at hubs in San Francisco, CA, and New York, NY

Annual base salary: $153,000–$376,000 USD

What you will do

• Build agent-ready enterprise design systems by fixing tokens, naming, guidelines, and Code Connect integrations.
• Deploy and adapt products such as Make Local and Code Layers within customer codebases, design systems, and developer environments.
• Run technical discovery and define credible paths to value within complex enterprise constraints.
• Debug integration issues involving Git workflows, CI, developer environments, legacy systems, and non-standard technology stacks.
• Build LLM-powered workflows using MCP, agent skills, and context-specific prompt engineering.
• Turn one-off customer solutions into reusable playbooks, product feedback, and scalable product improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience shipping production software end to end, including direct work with customers or partner teams.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases, languages, and technical environments.
• Experience with design systems and design-to-code workflows, including tokens and component libraries, or the ability to ramp quickly.
• Excellent customer-facing communication and technical partnership skills with senior engineers.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python, with experience integrating APIs and SDKs and troubleshooting toolchains and CI environments.
• Experience navigating enterprise requirements such as SSO, security reviews, access controls, data residency, and compliance frameworks.

Nice to have

• Experience in forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, professional services, developer experience, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
• Familiarity with developer tools, design-to-code workflows, or AI/LLM products such as Code Connect, Storybook, or Style Dictionary.
• Strong product mindset and experience turning customer engagement patterns into actionable product feedback.
• Experience partnering with Sales, Customer Experience, Solutions Architecture, or related teams.
