Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; available in 41 states except Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, North Dakota, West Virginia, New Mexico, and Hawaii. Travel required: 25–40%.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end AI deployments for health system customers, from architecture and infrastructure setup through production go-live.
• Design and implement RAG pipelines grounded in customer clinical data while managing accuracy, safety, latency, and data governance.
• Build secure tool-calling and Model Context Protocol integrations with EHRs such as Epic, Cerner, and Athena, data warehouses, and operational systems.
• Develop production Python code with LangChain, LangSmith, and modern LLM frameworks.
• Configure monitoring, alerting, logging, and incident response for deployed conversational AI agents.
• Act as the technical expert for customers, explaining system capabilities and limitations and solving deployment issues collaboratively.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Python and production development skills.
• Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks and advanced techniques including RAG, prompt engineering, tool calling, and LLM-as-judge.
• Experience integrating APIs, databases, and enterprise systems, including asynchronous patterns, error handling, and reliability engineering.
• Experience with MCP or similar tool-integration frameworks, healthcare IT standards such as FHIR or HL7, and EHR integrations.
• Production DevOps, infrastructure, monitoring, incident response, and deployment experience for reliable or safety-sensitive AI systems.
