Technical Lead (Fintech)

What you will do

• Lead the technical architecture and engineering direction for the Lending & Savings platform.
• Design and build scalable, secure, and highly available distributed systems.
• Remain hands-on by contributing production-quality code and performing critical code reviews.
• Partner with product and business leads to translate requirements into technical milestones.
• Mentor and grow a team of engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Drive engineering best practices, including observability, testing, and operational maturity.

Requirements

• Must be based in London and able to work in-office 4 days per week.
• Strong experience building backend systems using Kotlin or Java.
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
• Experience designing event-driven systems using Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL, relational database design, and NoSQL technologies like Redis.
• Proven track record of shipping reliable production systems that process financial transactions.

Nice to have

• Experience building fintech or crypto products (lending, borrowing, custody, payments).
• Knowledge of collateral management, interest calculations, or financial risk systems.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools like Cursor or Claude Code.
