TCU Calibration Engineer (Automotive)

TL;DR

TCU Calibration Engineer (Automotive): Developing and optimizing Transmission Control Units for electrified dual clutch transmissions with an accent on diagnostics and functional safety. Focus on executing calibration work packages, validating control strategies on test benches and vehicles, and ensuring compliance with ISO 26262.

Location: Mainly in Sint-Truiden, Belgium. Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.

What you will do

• Fine-tune control parameters and validate TCU/eDCT control strategies for optimal performance and drivability.
• Execute test plans on transmission test benches, chassis dynamometers, and vehicles (road and track).
• Analyze measurement data to identify issues and propose calibration updates.
• Contribute to diagnostics and fault management calibration, including DTC logic and OBD/UDS communication.
• Support functional safety activities in line with ISO 26262 standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical roadblocks.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, or Automotive Engineering.
• 4–8 years of experience as a powertrain calibration or controls engineer.
• Mandatory knowledge of functional safety concepts according to ISO 26262.
• Hands-on experience with Vector CANape and ETAS INCA.
• Solid knowledge of block diagrams and model-based development using Matlab/Simulink.
• Valid EU category B driver’s license is mandatory.

Nice to have

• Programming skills in C/C++, Python, or Matlab script.
• Experience with AVL CRETA for calibration data management.
• Dutch language proficiency.
