What you will do

• Manage underwriting and drive new business growth by gathering, analyzing, and evaluating complex risk exposures outside agent authority.
• Apply deep knowledge of coverage forms, loss trends/development, and underwriting guidelines to classify risks and determine appropriate pricing.
• Collaborate with Managing General Agents and renewal staff to grow and maintain a profitable book of business.
• Provide underwriting guidance, communicate decisions and appetite to agents, and support internal teams with responsive service.
• Perform continuous profit and growth analysis by territory and agency; monitor premium retention using electronic reporting tools.
• Manage workflows to resolve submissions within SLA and handle open quotes efficiently; may conduct independent agency visits and training.

Requirements

• 3+ years of underwriting experience.
• Proficiency using supplied desktop tools, including automated underwriting and email systems.
• Excellent understanding of coverage, underwriting standards/pricing philosophy, and state-specific laws/issues.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing and ability to drive an automobile for territory travel (car travel ~15% of time).
• Ability to work independently within a letter of authority and accurately handle high-complexity assignments.
