E&S Senior Underwriter (Hybrid)

Salary: USD $79,000–$103,000 per year

What you will do

• Manage and underwrite new business submissions involving complex risks, hazards, exposures, and premiums.
• Analyze coverage, loss trends, risk classification, pricing, and underwriting guidelines to support profitable decisions.
• Work with managing general agents, wholesale partners, renewal staff, and internal departments to grow and maintain a profitable book of business.
• Communicate underwriting decisions, appetite, and guidance to agents while resolving submissions within service-level expectations.
• Analyze profit, growth, retention, territory, and agency performance and provide recommendations to management.
• Conduct agency visits, prepare agendas and training materials, and travel by car within the assigned territory approximately 15% of the time.

Requirements

• 3+ years of underwriting experience.
• Knowledge of commercial insurance coverage forms, loss trends, risk hazards, pricing, and underwriting standards.
• Ability to evaluate complex risks, work within delegated authority, and make accurate underwriting decisions.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with agents, internal teams, and other business partners.
• Proficiency with desktop, email, and automated underwriting systems.
• Valid state-issued driver's license in good standing and ability to drive an automobile.
