Salary: $104,480–$143,660/year (25% bonus potential); Executive Underwriter: $116,080–$159,610/year (30% bonus potential)

What you will do
- Review, analyze, accept, or decline inland marine risks to ensure profitability.
- Underwrite and select new business and renewal terms, conditions, and pricing; handle related account servicing.
- Use underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges.
- Assess submissions for exposure and risk; monitor producers and the overall assigned book of business and recommend corrective actions.
- Understand and apply state laws (including cancellation and non-renewal) within the assigned territory.
- Resolve premium audit disputes and mentor junior underwriting talent; travel within the Midwest region as needed.
Requirements
- US Work Authorization required; does not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
- Minimum 6+ years of current experience underwriting profitable admitted inland marine (or related business); title depends on experience.
- Bachelor’s degree and industry designations (or proven, outstanding experience as a substitute).
- Proven outstanding reputation with retail distribution.
- Knowledge of pricing accounts using loss rating and actuarial modeling tools/techniques.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; excellent MS Office and underwriting system skills.
