What you will do

• Review, analyze, accept, or decline inland marine risks to ensure profitability.
• Underwrite and select new business and renewal terms, conditions, and pricing; handle related account servicing.
• Use underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges.
• Assess submissions for exposure and risk; monitor producers and the overall assigned book of business and recommend corrective actions.
• Understand and apply state laws (including cancellation and non-renewal) within the assigned territory.
• Resolve premium audit disputes and mentor junior underwriting talent; travel within the Midwest region as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 6+ years of current experience underwriting profitable admitted inland marine (or related business); title depends on experience.
• Bachelor’s degree and industry designations (or proven, outstanding experience as a substitute).
• Proven outstanding reputation with retail distribution.
• Knowledge of pricing accounts using loss rating and actuarial modeling tools/techniques.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; excellent MS Office and underwriting system skills.
