What you will do

• Evaluate and resolve complex coverage issues across all lines of business and liability claim types.
• Investigate claims through direct contact with claimants, attorneys, and witnesses.
• Manage litigation activities, budgets, and claim outcomes to minimize loss exposure.
• Negotiate and resolve claims within delegated authority limits of $100,000 to $400,000.
• Provide detailed reports to underwriting, reinsurance, and actuarial departments on significant cases.
• Attend mediations, arbitrations, and trials as required, involving up to 25% travel.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of casualty claims handling experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience handling complex claims with a primary P&C carrier.
• Proven experience with New York Labor Law is required.
• Ability to write coverage letters is required.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to travel by automobile.
• Strong strategic negotiation and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with E&S (Excess & Surplus) claims.
• Multi-State licensing and knowledge of Medicare reporting/compliance.
• Experience with Habitability, Assault and Battery, and Coverage B.
• College degree.
