SME Consultant - Data Center Construction

Location: Remote (United States); availability during business hours is required for scheduled Zoom meetings.

Pay: $50–75/hour on a 1099 contract.

What you will do

• Advise internal teams on data center construction dynamics, installation practices, and industry best practices.
• Support designers and developers in creating VR simulations and eLearning videos for skilled-trades training.
• Develop and contribute to procedure guides, voiceover scripts, screencasts, and technical training content.
• Create reliable test questions, knowledge checks, and fault scenarios.
• Review courses and content for technical accuracy and respond to team queries and feedback within 1–2 business days.

Requirements

• Extensive direct knowledge of data center construction in one or more areas: electrical, network and fiber, rack installation, HVAC, plumbing, or pipefitting.
• Systematic troubleshooting and research skills.
• Strong writing and communication skills for knowledge checks and procedure guides.
• Computer skills with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
• Availability during business hours for scheduled Zoom meetings.
• Ability to collaborate with designers and developers and provide timely feedback.

Nice to have

• Teaching, training, or mentoring experience.
• Experience with Camtasia; training will be provided.
