Director of Supply Chain Operations

Director of Supply Chain Operations (Supply Chain/Logistics): Designing and optimizing in-country supply chain architectures for tablet-based learning programs with an accent on forward and reverse logistics, repairs/refurbishment, and last-mile distribution in low-resource field conditions. Focus on geospatial route planning, inventory and asset tracking, risk and safety standards, and building data-driven operating processes across multiple countries.

Location: Must be based in Africa (home-based remote). Requires alignment with core working hours across time zones and at least quarterly international travel for in-person meetings, field support, or training.

What you will do

• Develop in-country supply chain architectures across portfolio countries to prevent downtime and asset loss.
• Lead geospatial mapping and analysis to plan warehouse/service-center placement and distribution routes.
• Design forward and reverse logistics strategies for deployment, returns, and end-of-life processes, including repairs and maintenance operations.
• Establish inventory tracking, safety, and risk mitigation approaches (including theft/loss prevention and asset tracking solutions).
• Set global standards and partner frameworks for sustainable repair, recycling, disposal, and e-waste management; support partner selection and certification processes.
• Drive data-driven leadership by enabling SOPs/templates/training, improving visibility and performance, and building data fluency and dashboard adoption.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain operations, or asset-heavy field operations; 5+ years at a senior level with demonstrated supply chain architecture experience.
• Proven experience managing inventory, distribution, and reverse logistics with practical, durable solutions that work in the field.
• Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management and repairs.
• Experience operating in low-resource, high-complexity environments.
• Experience building a data-driven culture to support better decision-making.
• Must be based in Africa; comfortable working independently in a virtual environment and coordinating across global teams.
