Quality Electrical Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Troy, Michigan, United States; onsite role. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What you will do

• Manage customer warranty center operations, including shipping and receiving returned e-PT components.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, repair, refurbish, and perform tear-down and failure analysis on defective inverters, converters, and motors.
• Maintain and manage EOL, charger/discharger, leak tester, chamber, and TAS equipment.
• Oversee field support, plant liaison activities, RMA processes, warranty claims, and customer quality issues.
• Lead APQP activities, coordinate PPAP documentation, and manage containment responses to emerging quality issues.
• Prepare technical reports and communicate quality status to customers and local and overseas internal teams using PRTS, 5 Phase, GQTS, and 8D methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• At least five years of Electrical/Electronics Application or Test Engineering experience.
• Experience with quality engineering root cause analysis, process improvement, and quality methodologies.
• Knowledge of TS16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, PCBA, and electrical schematics.
• Ability to travel up to 10% to customer and warehouse locations and occasionally lift or manipulate parts weighing up to 60 lbs.
• Current United States work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Technical knowledge of automotive electronics and electric vehicle components.
• CQE or CRE certification and knowledge of OEM quality processes.
• Ability to read programming languages such as C or Visual Basic.
• Advanced problem-solving, analytics, communication, organization, and stakeholder-management skills.
