What you will do
- Lead the end-to-end systems engineering lifecycle for Sensing, Perception, Maps, and Localization domains.
- Architect AV requirements using analytical and numerical methods for sensing, perception performance, and pose estimation.
- Define and own contracts for sensor performance, calibration, data quality, and system degradation strategies.
- Act as the primary technical liaison between AI/software engineers, hardware engineers, and safety teams.
- Verify requirements using physical and simulated data and improve synthetic data generation for sensor models.
- Contribute to the system safety case and mentor junior and mid-level engineers within the Platform team.
Requirements
- 3+ years of industry experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or aerospace.
- Strong foundation in AV sensing (Lidar, Radar, Camera), perception algorithms, sensor fusion, and localization (GNSS/INS, SLAM, odometry).
- Deep knowledge of sensor physics, signal processing, and data acquisition/management.
- Expertise in Systems Engineering and Verification & Validation (V&V) best practices for Level 4 AV systems.
- Working knowledge of functional safety standards, specifically ISO 26262.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or other languages used for data analysis and systems modeling.
Nice to have
- Experience with generative AI architectures or integrating ML-based perception algorithms into safety cases.
- Familiarity with SOTIF (ISO 21448) and handling unknown-unsafe scenarios.
- Applied experience building end-to-end perception or localization systems (e.g., object detection, HD map integration).
- Experience with sensor calibration and synchronization for commercial trucking or heavy machinery.
- Coding skills in Rust and experience with build and test automation tools.
