What you will do

• Provide individualized instruction in braille reading and writing, assistive technology, visual efficiency, and the Expanded Core Curriculum.
• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments for students aged 0 to 21.
• Write, implement, and monitor progress toward Individualized Education Program goals.
• Collaborate with families, classroom teachers, special education staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Adapt classroom materials, modify assignments, and implement educational accommodations.
• Advocate for physically and instructionally accessible classroom environments.

Requirements

• Active authorization or immediate eligibility for authorization from the Colorado Department of Education to provide services for students with visual impairments.
• Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in special education visual impairment or an equivalent program recognized by the Colorado Department of Education.
• Successful completion of an approved special education specialist program for visually impaired students, including all required field experience.
• Availability for a full-time, in-person position during the 2026–2027 school year.

Nice to have

• Dual certification or endorsement as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
