Tutor (Special Education)

Location: On-site, in-home tutoring in Wilmington, California, United States

Pay: $25–$35 per hour

What you will do

• Provide 1:1 in-home tutoring for middle school students with autism or other learning differences.
• Deliver bilingual instruction in math, literacy, science, and social studies.
• Reinforce foundational skills and academic growth in line with IEP goals.
• Use structured, visual, interactive, and interest-based teaching strategies with positive reinforcement.
• Conduct initial assessments, plan lessons, monitor progress, and adjust instruction to academic and developmental goals.
• Collaborate with existing supports, including speech therapy, to reinforce learning strategies.

Requirements

• Fluent English and Spanish required for bilingual student support.
• Experience working with middle school students with autism or other learning differences.
• Knowledge of special education instruction, foundational math and literacy, and cross-subject academic support.
• Ability to use visual supports, interactive strategies, and positive reinforcement.
• Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to individual learning styles.
• Availability for 6 hours per week, scheduled once weekly in 1.5-hour sessions.

Nice to have

• Background in special education, middle school teaching, or related tutoring.
