Staff Mechanical Engineer (Hardware): Leading new product development from concept to production for advanced sleep fitness hardware with an accent on complex electromechanical systems and high-volume manufacturing. Focus on architecting integrated sensor/actuator systems, performing thermal/fluid analysis, and driving DFM/DFA for production in Asia.

Location: On-site in San Francisco (5 days/week)

Salary: $160K – $240K + Equity

What you will do

• Architect and design complex electromechanical systems using plastics, metals, and soft goods.
• Lead the full development lifecycle from CAD and prototyping to high-volume production in Asia.
• Collaborate with industrial design, marketing, and product teams to shape product direction.
• Resolve cross-functional challenges with electrical, software, and manufacturing engineering teams.
• Conduct thermal, fluid, and structural analysis to validate designs against product goals.

Requirements

• 8+ years of consumer product design experience.
• Proven track record of shipping high-volume consumer products and supporting manufacturing in Asia.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling tools like Solidworks, NX, or Creo.
• Expertise in DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, and GD&T.
• Strong knowledge of injection molding and sheet metal forming.
• BSME required; MS preferred.
