Design Engineer (Hardware)

Design Engineer (Hardware/Electromechanical): Leading the mechanical and electromechanical design of next-generation security and edge-AI systems with an accent on balancing performance, manufacturability, and cost. Focus on taking products from concept through full production lifecycles (EVT/DVT/PVT) and optimizing hardware for rugged real-world environments.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and validation of electromechanical assemblies.
• Own the full product lifecycle from prototype through EVT/DVT/PVT, vendor handoff, and field deployment.
• Integrate compute, power, and connectivity into rugged hardware for real-world environments.
• Manage vendor and supplier relationships to ensure high-quality and on-time delivery.
• Drive execution across multiple workstreams with urgency and accountability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in electromechanical or hardware product development.
• Strong proficiency in CAD tools (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
• Proven DFM/DFA experience with sheet metal and injection molding techniques.
• Knowledge of thermal, vibration, and environmental design considerations.
• Ability to work in an on-site environment in Sunnyvale.

Nice to have

• Chinese proficiency and experience leading vendor engagement in Taiwan and China.
• Strong hands-on prototyping instincts to rapidly iterate physical proofs of concept.
• Ability to take projects from early-stage ideas to working hardware independently.
• Curiosity and drive to learn new fabrication methods and materials.
