Additive Manufacturing Process Development Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Lead process and parameter development for primarily metal additive manufacturing, including DOEs to define process windows and machine, material, and process readiness.
• Drive adoption of in situ monitoring, statistical process control, and digital traceability records.
• Build, evaluate, and implement software tools, automated workflows, and creative methods for parameter development and process automation.
• Research and introduce novel tools and technologies that strengthen process development capabilities.
• Develop parameters for unique part geometries and platform-specific challenges.
• Collaborate with materials, applications, systems, software, and welding engineers to validate and implement new processes in production.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience developing and optimizing additive manufacturing parameters and processes, with a strong focus on metal processes.
• Hands-on experience with additive manufacturing equipment and software, including build processors or process simulation tools.
• Experience building or improving automated workflows, scripting, or tooling for process or parameter development.
• Ability to work with materials engineering to translate new materials into validated, production-ready processes.
• Comfort working in an undefined space and building new processes and tools rather than relying on established norms.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, or otherwise eligible under ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Extensive LPBF experience, with DED experience as a secondary strength.
• Experience in aerospace, aviation, defense, energy, or similar high-specification industries.
• Experience with in situ process monitoring and using monitoring data for parameter development.
• Programming or scripting experience, such as Python, for automating engineering workflows.
• Familiarity with NADCAP, AMS7000 series, AS9100, and relevant ASTM/AMS additive manufacturing standards and certification requirements.
• Familiarity with fracture control classification and related qualification requirements.
• Experience supporting production scale-up in high-rate manufacturing environments.
