TL;DR

Counsel, Employment Law (Legal): Providing strategic legal counsel to HR and business executives on employment law and performance management with an accent on California state laws and regulatory compliance. Focus on conducting internal investigations, representing the company in litigation, and developing employment policies.

Location: Hybrid (Minimum 4 days per week in Universal City, California)

Salary: $150,000 - $185,000 per year

What you will do

• Advise HR and executives on employment law, including California-specific regulations, leave of absence, and misconduct.
• Oversee and conduct internal investigations to address concerns promptly and thoroughly.
• Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and litigation for employment claims.
• Research complex legal issues and draft settlement agreements, position statements, and legal correspondence.
• Monitor legislative developments and create training programs related to employment law.
• Support enterprise-wide initiatives and the Employment Law Department.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school or foreign equivalent.
• Member in good standing of the California state bar (or qualified to register as CA in-house counsel).
• 4+ years of employment law experience at a recognized law firm or in-house.
• Must be based in or able to work from the Universal City, California office.
• Ability to travel regionally and domestically on occasion.
