Legal Counsel (Litigation)

TL;DR

Legal Counsel (Litigation): Managing litigation, claims, and regulatory issues for the General Counsel team with an accent on insurance regulations, ERISA, and HIPAA. Focus on overseeing outside counsel and solving complex legal challenges to support business strategies.

Location: Hybrid (New York). Must be based in New York and work from the office at least three days a week

Salary: $165,500 – $331,000

What you will do

• Manage relationships and coordination with outside counsel.
• Provide legal guidance to management on regulatory and compliance issues.
• Support various business areas on a wide range of legal projects.
• Manage a complex docket including litigation, claims, and subpoenas.
• Contribute to the Strategic Plan of the Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs Department.

Requirements

• Law degree and admission to the bar in New York.
• 5+ years of experience in a litigation group at a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
• Familiarity with insurance industry regulations or benefits litigation (ERISA, HIPAA).
• Excellent communication, negotiating, and project management skills.
• Must be based in New York and attend the office at least 3 days per week.
