Production Supervisor (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Suffolk, Virginia, United States; onsite. The first 1–2 years follow a Monday–Friday daytime schedule, then transition to a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.

Salary: $77,270–$113,322 per year, plus discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Lead shift production activities during commissioning and routine operations, providing technical guidance and resolving process issues.
• Support commissioning and startup of a new plant, including operator hiring, onboarding, training, safe-work documentation, and operating-process development.
• Manage and develop approximately four to six direct reports through coaching, performance management, training, and succession planning.
• Troubleshoot process, equipment, operability, and quality issues; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Manage Safe Work, Hot Work, and High Hazard Line Break permits after obtaining Permit Writer certification.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Laboratory, Engineering, Material Handling, and Planning while managing SAP production and maintenance orders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and at least 3 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, or a high school diploma/equivalent and at least 8 years of chemical manufacturing experience.
• Strong knowledge of hazardous chemical handling and manufacturing safety practices.
• Knowledge of plant processes and equipment, including reactors, distillation columns, and process automation systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to climb stairs, walk for extended periods, bend, maintain respirator qualifications, and remain clean-shaven when required.
• Ability to comply with OSHA, EPA, RCRA, and DOT requirements and participate in emergency response and incident command training.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP, Distributed Control Systems, PLCs, DeltaV, and process data historians.
