Department Leader, Operations (Manufacturing)

Location: San Fernando, California, United States; onsite manufacturing role. The position may require 8-hour or 12-hour shifts, alternate weekends, overtime, and extended schedules based on business needs.

Salary: $88,000–$146,000 annual target base pay for candidates in California and the New York metro area. The total rewards package may also include an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead manufacturing operations and set team standards while achieving safety, quality, productivity, cost, reliability, schedule-adherence, and attainment goals.
• Coordinate daily schedules and the flow of raw materials, compounds, bulk product, and finished goods across departments.
• Coach, develop, cross-train, and empower team members while addressing performance gaps and supporting skill growth.
• Promote safe work practices, First Time Right quality, housekeeping, and sustained operational improvements.
• Investigate NCCAPAs with Operations Engineering and Quality teams, driving urgent root-cause problem solving and CAPA development.
• Provide technical support for equipment and processes and represent the Softgel organization in cross-functional continuous-improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 4–6 years of related manufacturing or CPG experience, including supervisory or leadership experience and experience in the relevant department.
• Competent knowledge of SOPs and cGMPs, including auditing related to cGMPs and batch record accuracy.
• Experience leading and coaching AM projects and building high-performing teams.
• Working knowledge of MRP, WMS, and radio-frequency systems; proficiency in Word, Excel, JD Edwards MRP, and PowerPoint is preferred.
• Must be able to work onsite in San Fernando, California and may need to operate machinery, wear PPE, stand and walk frequently, and lift or move materials weighing 25–50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Lean Six Sigma certification from IASSC and/or Lean or continuous-improvement experience within one year.
