TL;DR

Legal Counsel (Fintech): Providing comprehensive legal services for investment products and business operations with an accent on securities law, regulatory compliance, and commercial contract negotiation. Focus on identifying legal risks, supporting mutual funds and ETFs, and maintaining effective relationships with internal business partners.

Location: Must have current work authorization for Canada. The role is based in Toronto (moving to Mississauga in late 2026) with flexible hybrid and remote options.

Salary: $164,000–$194,000 (Total annual cash compensation including bonus).

What you will do

• Provide legal advice across all hirify.global Canada business lines and companies.
• Advise on securities laws and regulatory matters for new products and strategic projects.
• Prepare and maintain disclosure documents and material contracts for investment products.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements.
• Identify legal risks and develop practical business solutions.
• Assist with regulatory filings and interactions with securities regulators.

Requirements

• LL.B./J.D. degree and member in good standing of a Canadian law society.
• 4 years of post-call experience in securities, investment funds, or asset management law.
• Current work authorization for Canada is required.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Nice to have

• Experience at a major law firm, bank, pension fund, or asset manager.
• Working knowledge of legal structures for mutual funds, pooled funds, and separate account management.
