Legal Counsel (Securities and Investment Funds)

Location: Flexible hybrid schedule in Toronto at 483 Bay Street, moving to the Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway in approximately late 2026. Current work authorization for Canada is required.

Salary: CAD 164,000–194,000 total annual cash compensation, including base salary and target bonus.

What you will do

• Provide legal advice to hirify.global companies and business lines.
• Advise on securities laws and regulatory matters affecting new products, services, and strategic projects.
• Prepare and maintain disclosure documents and commercial contracts for investment products and distribution arrangements.
• Support mutual funds, ETFs, alternative investments, and other investment products.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements while identifying legal risks and practical business solutions.
• Assist with regulatory filings and maintain relationships with Product, Marketing, Compliance, Risk, and Fund Accounting teams.

Requirements

• LL.B. or J.D. degree and membership in good standing of a Canadian law society.
• At least four years of post-call experience in securities, investment funds, or asset management law.
• Knowledge of Canadian securities regulation, investment fund regulation, corporate law, and related legal structures.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize work under pressure, collaborate effectively, and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Current authorization to work in Canada is required.

Nice to have

• Experience at a major law firm, bank, pension fund, or asset manager.
• Working knowledge of mutual funds, pooled funds, separate account management, and sub-advised accounts.
