Senior Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid, with at least 4 days per week in the office in Arlington, Virginia or Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Up to 10% travel may be required.

Salary: $135,000–$273,000 per year; additional pay ranges of $135,000–$231,000 or $164,000–$273,000 may apply based on experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Define, validate, and control formal and informal software requirements and convert customer needs into a refined technical vision.
• Design, implement, prototype, test, and integrate software solutions using multiple programming languages and technology stacks.
• Develop interfaces across network protocols and messaging frameworks and integrate components into complex software environments.
• Lead design reviews, code reviews, software testing, configuration management, and integration activities in company and customer laboratories.
• Apply secure coding practices and support application security controls.
• Assess and manage project risks, opportunities, and contractual deliverables while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7–10+ years of relevant professional experience and proven experience mentoring and leading junior engineers.
• Expert knowledge of the software development life cycle and object-oriented programming.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, algorithms, data structures, software design patterns, and algorithmic complexity.
• Experience with software testing, configuration management, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience as an AI, Generative AI, data pipeline, platform, cloud, software security, or cloud security engineer.
• Experience with modern programming languages and frameworks, service-oriented architecture, APIs, databases, containers, and network or messaging protocols.
• Experience with test automation, application security, version control, web user interfaces, virtualization, or using AI to accelerate software development.
